The voices call
But I don’t answer
In the evening squall
There’s a ghosted dancer


I pretend
That they’re not there
But these illusions
Give me a scare

I try so hard
At being brave
I act a card
In my attempt to save

The demons from taking
My dignity away
Perhaps they’re making
This darkness stay

I envy the crowds
And people who
Can act like nothing
Is starting to brew

But in my corner
Alone with my thoughts
Can others see
My stomach in knots

I know my fears
Will go away
With time the pain
Won’t want to stay

Grief grabs a hold
Of all of us at times
And clenches tightly
No reason or rhyme

I’ve been in rooms
Like this before
The ghosts will pass
Once I open the door

A brighter day
When the ghosts

And visit places

They have no power

They’re but an illusion
Not a vision that’s true

Know that their presence
Is really not there
Just an apparition
