Oh Benson was a stunning fish he lived in Bluebell Lake.
An icon of his species his body made us quake.
He left all the tiddlers swimming in his wake.
So all you anglers gather round.

They said he was the biggest Common Carp that ever swam.
And they could hardly lift him up - a full 29 kilogram.
As slippery as an eel yet as friendly as a lamb.
So all you anglers gather round.

Everyone wanted to catch him.
and no other carp could match him.

Well it could have been sabotage by thoughtless selfish folk.
But to kill a fish like this seems like a cruel joke.
Poor old Benson, Lord of the lakes Rest In Peace.
Benson how we miss you, no other can replace.
