Four Out To One
Bit late to this party - there's already some great adds on here! But hell, it's a great tune and Marc/JMB are in fine fettle here.
Anyway, got stuck in keeping a busy, off-beat pattern for starters, keeping the kick simple, breaking into something more syncopated for the keys solo. That ride/hi-hat interplay in the solo seemed to sit really well to me, giving that kind of jazz-fusion feel.
Really struggling with my overhead mic positions - I just am not picking ...

Really nice M! Great groove and sound. I actually like the cymbal levels, it gives a lot of sparkle to your performance :D I am looking to upgrade my overheads from a pair of Rode NT5s, curious if you have found something you like B). Cheers M!

I use a pair of Audio-Technica cardioid condenser overheads. They're very good mics but damn are they sensitive to position. It doesn't help that my cymbals are Zildjian A Customs which are also bright and powerful and my china is a Zildjian 14" Oriental and that thing can cut steel from ten feet away!
If I had my way, I'd probably go for AKG C214s for their larger diaphragm but at £500 a pair it'll have to wait! +2

Thanks! I could not find the AT-8030, but I started looking into a AT4041 pair. I thought about the c214s, but after hearing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QkPL8foQJ0, I think they sound a little compressed. Anyway, you sound great :W
