Bean Sìdhe's Ballad
One of the most famous Celtic and Irish legends is that of the fairies. The Bean Sìdhe, the ‘woman of death’, is a creature capable of foretelling death. She weeps and wails when someone’s end is near, by the banks of small lakes or inlets, whilst washing the shroud of a person who is about to die, to warn the family of the impending death.
