Good question! But it has an easy answer... these days I'm experimenting with guitars in down B tuning, and adding an octaver (one click on my computer effects emulator) I get a similar sound. I really practice and explore sounds with the octaver and my two baritone guitars

When I loop live (on a looper pedal) I can make a bass line with these guitars and the octaver, and then continue making chords, without changing instruments. ;)
