Blue onions are bittersweet
Pretty in color, but not a treat
Can\'t use them in cooking,
Especially with meat

Better stay away from them
They’re not good to eat


Yellow onions are what I like
Versatile in nature and such a delight
Use them with many types of food
You won\'t be up with gas all through the night

They’re in my kitchen
Where they work just right


Green onions are pretty fine
Except cutting them is far from divine
The smell of them gets inside my eyes
If the Kleenex is near, I often cry

At times, their taste is such a surprise
Inside the food, they’re in a disguise


Red onions, I can do without
When I find them in salad, I wanna shout
Why’d they put them on my plate
I thought I told them it\'s something I hate

I’ll be more careful when I order out
In a restaurant when I’m out and about

Blue onions ain’t for me
Though I told you that
Why can’t you let me be

The other colors are fine with me
