Everyday it’s the same.
Wash, rinse repeat,
Stuck inside the laundromat
With the same
Ripped pieces of clothing
Going ‘round and ‘round,
Worn from too much use,
The colors and the whites
Bleeding together.

Sitting here waiting
For the clothes to dry,
I decide to wash them again
Because there’s nothing else to do,
Hoping they will look different
And seem like new clothes
But they don’t.

They just tumble
In a different order.

And some are still damp
As I drag them out
Of the mouth
Of the machine.

Someday this will all be over,
And I can
Take the clothes outside
To let them breathe again,
To renew their worn-out threads
And faded colors,

But until that day,
I simply sit and wait,
Watching the endless
Spinning,
And the circling
Of tired clothes.
