I don’t want to walk,
carry a flag,
or pound my chest in public,

but I can protest,
type my thoughts loudly,
throwing them out
among the clouds,

hoping they’ll land
on eager eyes,
thirsty for thoughts
where they can be sipped
again and again,

over time,
hoping my work lasts longer,
is stronger than a sign,
bolder than long steps
on a crowded street,
where verbs are thrown
and mashed by others
before they are stuffed
in the trash.
