The amp volume was fairly low so the tone stayed clean, the Strat was on the neck pickup with the volume almost full up. As the guitar was plugged straight in the amp without any effects I added all sorts of stuff in the DAW, so this is not the ...

I unly use one microphone now, I found out that's enough. Also, the Pig is great for live Jamming, in a big room with a full drum set and several guitars I was still asked to turn it down :D :D :D

Yes I saw that :) but I got the idea from Frank Zappa, ever since I read about him using it. He actually recorded with it. See here he plays it live on a TV show :O

Yeah it took me to reach the age of 45 to understand what was going on there, been a big fan. I just could not get my head around it when I was young, as you said to weird but now I love it.

Yes I suppose I could have added a little bit of gate, but I tend to not use it. It's blues, it can be a bit dirty... ;)

Find where the hum's from. Is it at the amp, or elswhere in the system? I think i notice one of your mic leada is a 1/4" unbalanced jack instead of a balanced xlr...
If you dont make the mic input so hot..ie gain stage the inputs, it should sort out lots of these problems.
Maybe an earth lift on the onterface might sort out the mains (50Hz) hum...or even a hi pass filter set to cut all below say 90Hz. +1
