Wrote the lyrics a while ago. It's how I see the progression should be from the darkest blackest moments of one's life, through to getting some colour and perspective back. I guess I have dumbed the lyrics down a bit...colour in ones life should be something achievable on one's own, not down to another person, because that just makes your happiness dependent on another and that is a huge responsibility.
