Can we believe anything anymore?

People used to say "don't believe everything you hear or read" but now we can't even believe things we see.
X (formally Twitter) is obviously riddled with lies and rumors but what concerns me is the manipulated pictures and videos on social media platforms that show convincing untruths. It used to be funny to make your pet look like it was talking. Not so funny when you put words into people's mouths. I don't think I'm taken in by anything anymore but many people are and I think it's a dangerous practice.

It’s all on a sliding scale of perspectives, all contingent on conditioning. Neuroscience says that we never really ‘see’ reality anyways. Allow yourself to be entertained by the part of your brain that’s concerned.

Don't forget the mainstream media that was formerly just presented on the good old tv set boob tube and now the internet as well. Mostly lies, controlled by governments, drug companies and other big money interests to brainwash the naive sheep .. they even convinced a LOT of people that the covid scamdemic was real and the subsequent clot shot was safe and effective, now that is dangerous! No AI needed either. Just good old fashioned lies.

In my opinion, Wikiloops should not be a platform for discussing politics.

Maybe not party politics but there is power and manipulation, trickery, dishonesty and plenty of unscrupulous goings on that don't come under the umbrella of politics, that's surely worth discussion ;)

There is a lot going on which is insulting the human spirit, but please make sure THIS discussion does not slide into a discussion about politics. We are a week away from the electin and the temperature is rising. Thanks to all for your understanding <3

Answering the question in the title of this thread and in an attempt to lighten the subject...

Here's a few things I know to be 100% true as they come to mind and in no particular order....

1. The Truth is not always obvious and the obvious is not always true.

2. Guitar strings don't stay in tune forever.

3. We are all going to die, absolutely no exceptions.

4. Weathermen and women on TV love floods just so they can stand knee deep in water to let us know how dangerous they are.

5. I've always got plenty of guitar picks around until I need one.

6. Old drivers like me are the people we used to yell at when we were young and impatient.

7. When someone starts a sentence with "to be honest" or "believe me" there's a good chance that what they are about to tell you is not 100% true.

8. If you keep your mouth closed and pinch your nose when you sneeze it can cause all kinds of embarrassing sounds and possibly an injury.

9. Not all of the music you create and upload to wikiloops will sound as great the next day.

10. To be honest, none of my music is great. See truth number 7. :D

I must say it's very hard to share conversations about life without getting into personal opinions and theories. I believe wikiloops includes music genres like Rap/hiphop where most lyrics include what might be seen as political observations, I don't see too many of those doing well here however.

On a personal note, my Niece recommended wikiloops to me as she knows I like to start conversations on forums (usually sports) Thank you for your music :D

Number 9 is definitely the bench mark for truth by which all other 'truths'should be measured.😆

Can I add 9a to that?

Some adds that make you cringe the next day will sound great half a year later

Good point about the sound of the music the following day! I have learned to not rush the work out in the heat of the beat and listen instead the following day. Then the trick is not to nuance it to death but pick the right emotional balance. Some of the now excruciating adds still express the feeling of that time.
