I know everyone thinks that their kids are the best ever, right? I am so proud of my 3 kids I could burst. And it's not that they have achieved anything special yet, it's just that they are good kids, well behaved, not spoiled and very very independent, with a strong streak of skepticism in them (Hmm I wonder who they got it from B) ) . Plus, they have a great sense of humour and we have a lot of fun. I just wish I would see them more often, but I guess this is the price we pay for having independent children, they spread their wings, left the nest and flew into the world.

Thank you Al Gore for creating the Internet so I can keep in touch with them easily ;)

Thursday 7th August.
It's been nice to have visitors (Son and girlfriend) for 3 nights but they're taking a break in York until Saturday. Before they left I asked them both to give me a 'Genre' and a 'Subject' so I could write them each a song. They gave me...
1) Bosa Nova and Canals.
2) Jazz and cats in the garden.
Then when I arrived here I found Harmut had laid down another challenge
3) Pop and Beach Towels. Looks like I'm going to be busy :)

-I haven't listened to music in a while. So I haven't really checked out anything on Wikiloops either. I miss it!

-Although I haven't made any music, I still dared to buy concert tickets for Skynd gig. Maybe my ears can handle the noise if I wear earplugs.

-The summer heat finally ended. We had several weeks of over +30. I ended up sleeping on the balcony because it was too hot inside. Well, +30 isn't anything compared to the temperatures in Southern Europe, so I can't complain.

-Next, I'm going to read what you’ve written in the diary. I haven't read it either because I've been angry to my left ear.

-Just a few more weeks and I’ll be traveling to see my sister and my mom. I'm really looking forward to it since I haven't seen my mom in over five years.

While I was in ASDA (Supermarket) today I heard a song I've always liked "Dancing in the Moonlight"
I never realized before but there is a wonderful range of notes in the melody, something you don't hear so much these days.

So I looked at the history of the song and I was surprised that in UK it was cover by the band Toploader. Other bands have recorded it in various Countries.

However it was written in 1969 by Sherman Kelly while recovering from a vicious attack where he was left for dead.
He explained "I envisioned an alternate reality, the dream of a peaceful and joyful celebration of life" Well Sherman, it always makes me feel happy <3

I thought it was a co-incidence that I heard the song today as I was planning on dancing in the Full Moonlight tonight :D

-I signed up for fitness boxing today. I promised to try it because I need to lose a few kilos. 120 kg is too much.

-I had a dream that I was walking from Osaka to Tokyo. For some reason, that dream fascinated me. It would be fun to do something so stupid once in a lifetime and walk over 500 kilometers. For some reason, it feels like a sensible idea.
Well, I know that I will forget the idea soon and i won´t never do it.

-I think I played a good bass line for a Wikiloops song today, so now is a good time to go to sleep. On the other hand, I know that the songs I like always get the fewest thumbs up, but that's okay because I am personally happy with the song.(I haven’t uploaded it to the site…yet)

Good for you Aito! About 7 or 8 years ago I decided that I was getting too fat (almost 100 kg), and being then over 50 years old I decided to finally grow up and get checked up. Turned out I had non alcoholic fatty liver :O, which is really bad. So I started to do some sports after a short while the liver recovered, but the weight, that was a different story. I go 2-3 times to the gym, lots of cardio but the weight went down only a little bit. I guess muscles are also heavier than fat, so that did not help.

I am not a fitness expert, but my take of it is as such: Go and do the sport, even two times a week can make a big difference to your fitness, especially if you do cardio on a regular basis. You will feel better. And stronger, too.

BUT: Going to the Gym will make you "lose" 500 or 600 kcalories a session, so if you eat one currywurst sausage with a portion of fries, ketchup and majonaise, you are looking easily at 1000 kcals. I find that after a good and hard gym session, I also get a good appetite :D

So now I weigh 83 kg, which is close to my ideal weight. How did I do it? I simply reduced the amount of what I eat, of course Mrs. Gee only cooks good home made food and not processed stuff. But over a couple of years I slowly but steadily reduced the amount that I eat, and that helped.

I also started intermediate fasting 8/16, so no food between 20:00 and 12:00 the next day, and bingo, weight went down :D . All those tshirts that were getting tight now fit again. And jeans, too :)

So find out what works for you, stay regimented and you will feel so much better, I am sure of it.

About ten years ago I weighed 68 kilos. I never ate during the workday and worked long hours. Now I live a different life, I don't work and I exercise 6 times a week lightly, but as you said, light gym training doesn't burn many calories and eating makes you gain weight easily. That's why fitness boxing could be a good sport because it increases heart rate.

I'm tired of the constant slight back pain and the fact that my leg hurts when I walk. I guess losing even ten kilos would be good. A hundred kilos would be an even better weight.

On the question of weight gain, I believe that being a musician is not the healthiest occupation. It's hard to burn off calories sitting down, and snacks are part of the creative procedure. The exception might be drumming, now that's the perfect way to work up a sweat. I wonder if wikiloop drummers are lean and mean? I can't think of a fat drummer. There has been a tendency recently for singers to be ample bodied, both sexes. Maybe the old phrase "It's not over 'til the fat lady sings" was based on truth.
Unfortunately, although I'm not overweight, I can't sing right now because I have a throat problem.... I could perhaps do a cover version of The Frog Song.

My visitors have returned to Norway now so I'm missing their lovely company and have to wait another year before meeting up again.... unless I go to visit them, which I'm seriously thinking about now. I'm fine with flying, it only takes 2 hours, but add on the travel to the airport, check in and long wait then travel the other end :( well it took my visitors 14 hours to get home. :o

I’ve now managed to do my swim workouts on an empty stomach several times, and I’m focusing on low-carb and even a bit of keto. Yesterday, for the first time, I measured a ketone level of 0.9 and a glucose level of 5.0 in my blood, which made me a little proud. I’ve been able to replace sugar and honey with chicory syrup, which has only about 10% sugar. My favorite way to enjoy it is with homemade natural yogurt. I’m at 102 kg — still far too much, but slowly improving. My sleep tracking is ok. My resting heart rate is just over 50 at night, thanks to cutting out caffeine + white flour I think.

A few years back I saw Robin Trower with his band, he had Pete Thompson on drums and he was pretty heavy. Bloody good drummer, he was pounding hard on those drum skins :D

Big market day at the harbor.

We also ate hamburgers, because my youngest son was with us. The hamburger is the only reason he visits the city center. 🙂

It was a nice day 🙂
