Are you singing about a giant squirrel?
Man oh man what the kids sing about these days really baffles my mind!

Life often does not offer much more than routine. Nevertheless, one clings to it and will do anything to this state to maintain.
The daily recurring marmot used here (similar to the movie "Groundhog Day" ) as a metaphor for the endless repetition of the same (or nearly the same) days.
Man cherishes and cares for it gives him to eat and drink so that it recurs because if it does not come back as long as possible is possibly the whole (life) over ;o) +1

That was my second thought!---HAhaHA, Actually--it was my first thought, but I had to look up to see what a marmot was, then I thought I'd try being, funny or Stupid, sounding like an old man, stuck in his routine wanting to hear songs that are about superficial things yet sweet sentiment. Those kids!

And now I know again why I actually usually only write German lyrics, my english is easy to bring bad to the over what I really want to say.
I thought everything would be good to understand, but when I read now that you had to look as a native speaker what exactly ever a Marmot is then the function my lyrics I realized probably not properly ;o) +0

no I just didn't know what one was. I looked for it in the definitions. So you educated me on an animal I never knew existed!

Vielen Dank Franky, ich hoffe mein bescheidenes Englisch zerstört nicht die Message des Songs ;o)
