Dave, it is getting better all the time, you are getting the hang of Audacity!!! One thing you should look at, I think the volume is set too high. Also, if others want to add to this they will have to reduce the volume, which will cost in the sound quality. Maybe that is why there is a slight distortion sound?

yeah its a work in progress TG- I check the meters constantly to make sure the clipping/distortion isn't there, so I don't understand why it comes out that way? It seems these devices are really touchy and getting the settings from track to track is a battle.

I don't find it too difficult to be honest, when I plug in the guitar, I record a short section and see where it is, if needed, I reduce the volume either at the guitar, the amp or in Audacity (there is a slider for that). I check that with a new short recording and that's it. At the end, when I do the mixing, I play with the seperate volume knobs of each track.
