Wade Almost... hot shimmering air seldom happens at Santa Cruz. Very cold ocean and mostly overcast and foggy. Oh well good surfing... if you can ignore the men in the grey suits (great white sharks). +2

rootshell Wade, we used to vacation there all the time when I was young. Really enjoyed the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. We'd camp at Sunset State Beach, fond memories of that place. Was lucky enough to never encounter any sharks :o +2

Wade Yes I recall and a respite from the heat of the Central Valley in summer. I've also spent a fair amount of time all along that coast working with redwoods and hanging out in Big Sur. I still have friends in the Monterey/Carmel area. World's best artichokes! I was very close to the epicenter when the big quake hit that trashed the Bay bridge in SF/Oakland. Rock and Roll! +2
