Wade Lantana grow into 15 foot high thickets and have thorns. Takes a bulldozer and wearing clothes that won't be shredded by the thorns to clear them out. Nasturtiums may take over areas, but are otherwise benign and very easy to get rid of. We leave them in our forest areas as a ground cover (and use the flowers in salads). +1

Yes, we used to remove the dead nasturtiums leaving bare earth, but now we leave it all and it covers nicely soon enough!
