Paolo lived high in a mountain town
Working till Saturday, church on Sunday
He was tired of altars, tired of working
I want to be a dancer
Like the people down below

Now down in that town
They were having a toga swaying party
He went to the cliff,
Heard the music wafting up,
And realized what he needed
We gotta live like we mean it
We got to pump the jump


Standing on the cliff
He could see a storm coming
Not far enough out to sea.
He wanted those folk to bring the fun up here,
Before they drowned down there.
He tried to shout
But no one could hear
They just kept dancing and laughing.
I need to get down there and warn 'em.
But that wave it fell down short,
Only made it to the shore.
Now the mountain folk gathered
Groaned a sigh of relief
Hung their heads in prayer
A big bang made them turn again
Fiery rocks were flying,
Sky turned black and red,
Lava flowed from the neighboring mountain
Right over that dancin' town,
Paolo's people cheered their luck,
Saw life was short and precious
Paolo said, this should remind us
It goes to show, you never know!
Three cheers they gave up
They made Paolo their new mayor.

Now Paolo leads their prayers
He taught 'em what they needed
Hands wavin' in the air
Balance's what their heedin'
They still work all the week,
But when the weekend comes
They get to Pump…the Jump !
