From an egg
He begins,
Smaller than the head of a pin,
Expanding like
A tiny accordion.

Inching with a tiny creep
His green and black body
Soon to sleep
On the finger of a dill,
Growing still,

Until it's time
For another change
A transformation,
His body rearranged.

Bracing himself
On the screen,
Morphing from green
To brown to black ,
Wings peeking through
His translucent back,

Breaking free,
A butterfly at last
Letting go of his past,

Applause from his
Rainbow wings
He soars upward
As nature sings
