Nicely done...especially for only 6 months of work! You've got a good idea of the notes you want to hear and enough technique to accomplish this. Constructive stuff: Timing is critical and often more important than the notes. You accents at the end of each line are spot on, but the lyrical parts in between need to have a combination of feel, flow and a stronger relationship to the rhythm of the track.

Can be a good idea here in wikiloops to leave some or even half of the track for others to take over. That's especially true if it's a long track (like this on is). Variety is good in any track. If we can't provide that variety then let others do it (quit while you're ahead).

Keep playing as you've obviously talent, drive and a good musical ear. Good to have you here at the academy of play more and get better!

Wade Too often people with talent are "led". IMHO that can lead to the talented person not finding their own voice. It's obvious that you hear the notes you want to play, which is the way it should be. Developing the technical ability to do this in many different situations and styles (rhythms) can take a long time. Many teachers just say copy somebody great, but that can be a trap where you loose your musical voice.

Not being a guitarist I can't give you much specific help with your instrument. However I can suggest a general exercise that will help link your musical thoughts to your guitar: Sing... the quality of your voice being unimportant or even singing in tune. The idea is to do what you've already done here, but sing those lines first. This ensures that it's coming from you and not just repeated licks. The exercise is to be syncing your playing to your inner voice. Many very advanced/professional players can and do sing exactly the notes they are playing in real time.

Listen to a wide variety of genres and try to play along with them. This broadens your musical palate with lots of ideas that can be utilised in unexpected places. Cross referenced musical ideas are always refreshing.

You don't have to post everything you download, but can surely use it for practice. There are lots of excellent guitarists here that can inspire you.

Give yourself some challenging rhythmic exercises. At first just try to be exactly on the beat. After that there can be many variations, with the ultimate being to enhance the groove through very subtle variations. This is also what makes for great drummers. Drum machines can play perfectly, but lack playing with a groove unless programmed for it or a "sample".

Work hard with joy...it's the only way.

:J wow great first track, welcome to the Loops! Only 6 months???!! I know people *caugh* who took waaaaaaay longer to reach that level ;) Keep at it, Wikiloops is the perfect place to find backing tracks. The others here already gave you good tips, the only thing I would mention, it is hard listening to 6 minutes of blues improvisation, and I am saying this as a guitarist who loves doing just that :D :D. I still do it... but, it's probably better to leave space for singers, or other instruments, or maybe try to find tracks where there is already a singer and you add to that. Just a suggestion. Anyways, hope to hear more from you :) +1
