Ernie440 It's definitely a French Canadian thing .. I mean we gather sap and make syrup here in NS but it's not like they do in Quebec. One guy in my community does his maples every spring and he's a french guy, either from Quebec or New Brunswick .. not sure. It's good stuff. Takes a lot of boiling!! :O +1

Wade I used to make syrup from my surplus watermelons (I used to grow them commercially). Wasn't nearly as good as Maple Syrup, but plenty sweet! It was also boiled down to concentrate flavor and sugars. +1

Ernie440 well there's lots of obvious sugar in a watermelon, not so much with maple sap, you can barely taste the sweetness. Very light. Watermelon syrup sounds interesting. I've heard of watermelon wine but never tried to make it, making some gooseberry wine at the moment. +1
