On a essayé de jouer ensemble avec Filo 10000km en visio live mais ça ne fonctionne pas ... j’entends sa voix mais pas sa guitare ... s'il y a des francophones qui peuvent nous aider ... il entend ma voix et le violon ... donc le temps qu'il bidouille avec sa carte son j'ai enregistré ça avec le looper ... d'ailleur il doit rajouter sa guitare dessus We tried to play together with Filo 10000km in live video but it ...

Good idea and good try, it has already been discussed in the forums about being able to play online but it is complicated by latency.

I understand your frustration, but this is why this site works and live jamming doesn't. The timing will always be off. It's not just that one instrument doesn't come through.

What you've posted is wonderful and I'm sure Filo will be very pleased to add to it! +1

Wade The reason is simple and just physics plus some potential problems most computers have. The signal can't travel faster than the speed of light...which is very fast, but not fast enough. Signals go though "routers"and are seldom/never direct. So if Filo hits a note and it has to travel 10,000 miles to get to you that's a 50 ms delay. When you hear it then play with it the signal goes back to Filo and he hears what you played at 100 ms out of sync from what he played... and that's not including and computer issues! Most good musicians find it an awful handicap. It's only good for very slow tracks where a fraction of a second difference isn't as likely to be noticed.

A good example is when you see a foreign correspondent on TV gives a live response to something the person 10,000 miles away in the studio has asked them. You wait with them nodding or smiling for what seems ages until they answer. That's the time it took for the signal to reach them, for them to hear it, then the time it took to get back to the studio. +1

Wade Latency is often just what you have in a computer where there is a delay in processing a lot of information, so that's added on top of the Speed of light physics. When you watch that foreign correspondent it often seems like around 3 seconds. The more detailed information the longer it takes. +0
