I tried to follow FrankMil and Carlomac's excellent suggestion to pull back the gain on the vocals so it wouldn't clip and overwhelm. I'm still a total beginner with mixing and have a lot to learn ... so thanks for your patience!

FWIW, it sounds like "the band" is still kind of in the background instead of balanced with your vocal track. Excellent lyrics and delivery tho!

On both songs, the mix sounds good when I play it on my computer (using Audacity). But then when I upload it to Wikiloops, the vocals are too loud, clip, and overwhelm the instruments.
Any tips on how to make it more like I hear it on my own computer? +0

Hmmm I use audacity as well and I haven't noticed that on my vocal uploads. What are you running audacity on?

I'm just running Audacity on my HP laptop.
Maybe I should try mixing 2 versions: (1) where the mix sounds good on my home system and (2) pulling the gain way down on the vocals for the version I upload to Wikiloops? +1
