Something entirely different from me ! I've used an XG flute from the Clavinova (tweaked a wee bit !). I know nothing about Native American Flute music - so, heartfelt apologies if my effort causes dismay and concern. Any and all comment (good/bad) will be gratefully considered. By the way, I've read the chat about everyone being too nice :-)

gimproviser Thanks Shi - I'm waiting with bated breath to read MikeyJ's thoughts ! Hopefully, I have found a genre I can jam to (with ?) - my unpredictable piano things are not so good for that ! :-) +1

I don’t yet know your name so for now hello Jim.I’m not dismayed or concerned , I’m grateful you chose one of my tracks to accompany .I thought the sound you used on your clavinova was very good and flute like ( at least up to about the top D, above that sounded more like an organ ),. What you played was good and in keeping with the minor mood of the piece and I liked it .You said you were receptive to hearing negative comments so what I would say is that it is recorded at too high a volume ,the upper notes are distorting and slightly painful to listen to ( you can see on the visual track trace that the waveform extends right to the very edges) .The other thing I would say , and this is something I am also guilty of on occasions is that sometimes it is more effective not to play right across the whole track as you would be doing as a solo performer but leave some spaces where your fellow collaborator can still shine and maybe also where someone who likes your track and wishes to join you on it has space to add their bit .Hope this is helpful advice and you take it in the spirit which it is intended which is one of wishing to be of help.I am a great admirer of your abilities on the piano by the way . Kind regards Mikey. +1

gimproviser I'm Graeme - hello ! I'm really quite pleasantly surprised re my interpretation of Native American Flute music. Thanks !

I did tweak the XG flute voice - used the Graphic EQ in Audacity - trial/error method - just because of my aged hearing. Did very little trial/error; and I was aware that not all was well ! I take fully on board your comment re playing across the whole track. You will gather that I am a newcomer to jamming - never tried it before finding WL.

I very much appreciate your taking the trouble to write as you have. That's the kind of dialogue I think I need - I'm finding myself somewhat overwhelmed by several differing contacts; and there are bits of WL I don't understand - e.g. what is the Shoutbox all about ? - I was taught that shouting online was impolite !!

Thanks again for your time and interest.

Best regards.

MikeyJ Hello Graeme (not Jim !).
A ‘shout out ‘ was a term coined I think in the very noisy dance clubs in the 90’s when D.J ‘s would give out a message or acknowledge someone in the audience prefixing it with” A shout out to … so and so “ hence Shoutbox where people can give out messages and make their presence known .Shi and Wolfgang can often be found on there as they are site moderators who help to keep it running smoothly and try and make sure everyone is happy .HTH ( modern text speak for hope that helps ! ) I’m learning also !

gimproviser Thanks Mikey - I think I will steer clear of Shoutbox meantime; and thanks for "HTH" - didn't know that :-) +1

TeeGee
TeeGee Hey there, I can anly agree to what has been said: very cool flute, a bit loud in places and maybe leave more space for others. By the way, if you are new to recording, you can always post a question about recording in the forum, we got some experienced users here who will be happy to answer your technical questions :) . And finally: please don't stay away from the shoutbox, on the contrary, it is definitely a place where everybody can have a chat, say hello and have some friendly banter. See you out there :W +2

gimproviser Hello TeeGee - thanks for your words. My children (all now middle-aged or more !!) say "cool", but I'm still not quite there :-) I can cope with tech. stuff fairly well, but I'm struggling with such an abundance of friendliness, 'likes', comments, diverse musical talent etc. Maybe I will shout, but not yet ! Thanks again for your interest. +1

TeeGee
TeeGee Well, don't let anything bother you, your feed and likes and stuff, just upload your music, and interact as much as you can but don't let it stress you out :) +1
