A difficult track, yet you flow along with this so well. +0

Bradford Thanks. I converted the template to midi and drove a few tracks with that. You can hear one of them right at the end. Added some percussion then the various wind controller parts. Tried to keep the original template as a main feature. +1

Fascinating instrument changes that give it renewed interest. Great work blending. I would like to hear more of that effect you mentioned about at the ending.....:| +0

Bradford I used Ableton's audio-to-midi feature to create a midi track from the template track. Other DAW's offer this as well. Melodyne and other tools too. An audio-to-midi convertor examines the audio track (or sample) and attempts to create a midi track that's close to the audio track. This time the results were better than most. I used the created midi track to drive 2 keys tracks. At the end of the song I muted the template track (it seemed to get out of sync for the last few measures) but left one of the new midi tracks on along with the wind synth track. +0

Bradford 6:21 is where you can hear the midi track. I also ran just about everything through Blue Cat's PolyVibe effect on one of the returns. Sometimes applying common FX to all tracks helps mask the add-on quality of adding stems to already completed mixes. PolyVibe is meant for adding cool vibe sounds to keys, which is why I added it to the midi tracks I converted. But then I experimented (which you gotta do sometimes) and fed the other tracks through it as well. There's a subtle waviness to the track. +0

PaulM44 Thanks. I have tried using Ableton but the controls symbols are so tiny. I am impressed that it can convert audio to midi with success--I've had mixed results with Logic Pro. It's an interesting approach to creating new sounds. +0

Bradford I've been using Ableton for a long time but have Logic for EWI patches. Presetting the DAW for the song tempo before dropping in the template can help. Also aligning the template with the grid can help if it isn't already lined up. +0
