As we age, we all have to make adjustments. Often they're physical. Perhaps they are mental. But the truth of the matter is that life continues to evolve. How we interpret that change is up to us.

I was a volunteer at the Culver City Senior Center in Los Angeles for many years, so I am fairly familiar with the aging process. As things started happening to me and others around me, I had to change my attitude.

These haiku poems are devoted to the things that we all have to face.


So what if you hurt
We have to keep on going.
What choice do we have

Just stop complaining
Look at that man over there
Laughing and he’s blind

To be interesting
To other people you must
Show interest in them

What will hurt today
My spirit or my body
Yet, things could be worse

Pain invades my legs.
Why can’t I trade them in like
A new pair of shoes

She stares at the wall
Like there’s some secret message
Only she can read

Sleeping all the time.
Life is easier that way.
Fewer decisions

Animals hide in
Dark places to go and die
We’re hooked to machines


Time to get a grip…….
