Go ahead, have another drink, the cool tall glass is such a great romantic partner. You sip from its lips, as it returns a damp kiss. For a moment you are beautiful, interesting, and that those dark things didn't really happen.

So you have another, but the roar of your past has found a way to climb into your mouth, the verbs and nouns bouncing against themselves dying to get out.

Your sentences are fractured, flying toward my face, a poorly written script. I know what you’re really trying to say, but you need a rewrite, you need an editor.

But it's too late, the words are on the floor, evidence of your black beginnings. You stumble over them, banging into a paragraph that you didn't see.

But I have heard everything. I will remember the pages that flew toward me, a scrambled mess, as you reach for another glass, trying to blunt your sordid story.
