Yeah, this is a gem. Tof pointed me towards it. There's definitely a latin lilt to this but also, I felt, a whiff of disco too, especially with that powerful downbeat later on in the track. WD also has the latin jazz angle covered anyway! So I went for something more fundamental in the backbeat department but tried to retain that latin/Afro-Cuban lilt too. To this end, the track starts with a classic Calypso on the kit, adding the snare to ...

So subtle and powerful in a same time ! The mix is very nice and the cymbals squad do the job under your sticks :) fits so well with the percussions.
Merci Martin, it’s fantastic

mpointon Thank you, Tof. I'll never tire of playing with you and Marc (Alex I rarely feel I'm able to contribute to!). you often give me the guidance I need to make a good drum track - I often need the melodic guide! +1

mpointon Thank you, Carpenter! Long time no hear! I hope you're still adding! +1

Supercool playing and your drumsound is in a great balance to the track! I could talk technical but “love it” will do the job too i assume! :) +1

mpointon Thanks, Marc. So hard to call a lot of tracks - a lot of the time I think I'm just playing the same old beats, but if they work, they work! It's the curse of the drummer! Better to play something simple well than go off-piste! Well, that's my excuse!

I listen to adds like WD's on this stem and, technically, it blows me out of the water - so good, so precise and so well done.

I'm always juggling what is 'creative' versus what works. And I nearly always find simple is what works. There's nothing difficult in what I'm playing here.

I'd rather have come up with WD's track! I love his smooth creativity.
