In grade school I had a crush on Jackie Ruder.Thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world. As Muriel, she had the prettiest bright green eyes.Her beauty was so great, it would put me in a hypnotic trance to the point , I would completley tune out the teacher and classroom and the entire world was just her and I.
Problem was she didnt know I even existed.
I wanted to express my undying love for her by annoying her and getting her attention by jumping on her bicycle and riding it when she distinctly said "no". After all thats how us boys got each others attention right? In my 12 year old mind, I thought grabbing her bicycle and riding it would start a conversation and destiny would take its course.She tried to grab the rear wheel to stop me and I ended up breaking her finger. Snapped it like a twig.
Jackie never talked to me after that. Her two older brothers did. In the back of the school bus. With their fists. For an entire week I was beaten to a bloody pulp in the back of the bus but each time, as I lay sprawled across the bus seat,trying to keep my nose from bleeding on my shirt, I would look up at her brothers and ask "Hows Jackie, Is she okay?".
I have no idea why I share that other then your beautiful hommage to Muriel takes me right back to the beauty of Jackie Ruder my 6th grade Amour.

Yeah sometimes it crosses my mind that I may have been responsible in some way for her not fully appreciating my more endearing qualities.
