For WL recordings I usually take a line out from the Hammond into a Neo Ventilator (a Leslie 122 emulator), and record that. Alternatively, for really serious stuff, you can mike up the Leslie, but it is not easy to get a good result, much depends on the room it is in. Either just use a room mike about 1.5 m above and away from the top rotor, or put 2 mikes at the top rotor at a 90 degree angle, and a bass mike on the lower drum. You need good quality mikes for this to work well, and it's a pain to set things up avoiding phasing issues. Thus my preference for using the vent.
