DIECIDE 2.0
Now class... Today we will learn about the most important tool in home audio recording: The EQUALIZER.
Everyone say, "Equalizer".
So I'm still moving and reconfiguring my recording setup, and "deicided" to test my monitor and work with a new (to me) eq. Here's how it went down...
Set up a different amplifier and took my own advice- put a good eq between the recorder and the amp. NEVER move these settings again! Then I got my ...

awesome job Doc... although I will admit I am totally newbie when doing anything with mixing and especially equalizers ... just ask Gemmy who has been trying to teach me how to do it lol

I've been making bad recordings for 30 years- Gemmy... probably longer and better schooled. The hardest part is being a good (objective)listener. Then having the right tools and some practice- Most important, your monitor has to be accurate or you can't hear what you're doing. I finally got to that part- LOL!

well, I am scoring pretty bad then since I don't have any monitor speakers, just headphones and old ears.

Actually you do have a great set (lol) of monitor speakers- In your 1998 Ford F250 with a tow pkg, 2wd dually because you live in the South (my picture of you))!
Play your favorite professionally mastered cds in there and adjust tone (eq)until it sounds best to you- then glue the settings in place and play your own music inside the double cab until your neighbors call the cops, and you'll hear it tell you what to do. Easy! +1

Thanks- it's one thing to have ideas and quite another to make them work! Really happy that this experiment didn't create a three headed monster... or did it?

Glad you like it! In my opinion it shows what a great drummer sounds like. It (your talent) really caught my attention as it surfaced. You're better than you may believe.

Sounds super - thanks for the description. It helps me, even if I do not have a similar setup. Will try that also.

I don't hear too much trouble for you- The key is to be able to judge from a standard and consistent floor where you hear accurately.
I.E., If you use M-Audio power speakers, and all your friends do too all of you would agree on how awesome the sound was... but others would hear way too much bass (because M-audio has too little). +0
