My Direction Was:
Atmospheric dream-pop / art-rock. Female contralto lead vocal with warmth and character. Hypnotic and reflective rather than dramatic. Spacious drums with deep toms and light cymbal work, melodic fretless bass carrying the song, shimmering electric guitars with delay and reverb, soft analog synth pads, occasional ebow textures. Build gradually from intimate verses into a wide, uplifting chorus with layered harmonies singing "Monkey Mind Map." Evocative of memory, self-discovery and inner landscapes.
