Here to Grieve

I think of those words that I once wrote
Every night , they haunt my dreams
Love letters just ink and hope
Moments lost when I lost you

I tried to run but the past won’t fade
Trapped inside the story that we made
I wish that I could find the strength- the place
To speak the truth and face your face
Funny how we were playing the same game
We played to win , but not for the same prize

I reach for those letters
The ones I never dared to send
Chasing dreams that never end
Wearing the weight of what went wrong
Each memory now a sad - broken song

If only you could hear the thoughts I keep inside
Would it bring you closer or push you to hide
Do I have to confess
Would you love me more , or maybe less

Maybe someday I will find peace
But tonight the noise won’t cease
The quiet hurts more than the sound
Memories scream through you are not around

Isn’t it so funny - how you said
You were the one that would never leave
And now I’m the one
Left here to grieve
