Oh dear, I feel bad adding a 'like' to your sickness Aito - get well soon.
It was really strange, I was talking to someone as I opened this thread, and I'd just said "I feel a bit sick" then your post popped up saying the same thing shock But the reason I felt sick was because I'd just eaten, some potted beef, baked beans, bacon crisps, cheesy wotsits, cherry yogurt, coconut milk, 2 chocolate biscuits and a Yorkie sad It was a mini binge and I was suffering for it.

Happily it was a beautiful Sunny day today and I managed a good walk before stuffing myself (as above)
Tomorrow I think I'll try to control my urges more smile

I felt weird after Tuesday's workout, but I went to the gym on Wednesday morning anyway. So this is my own fault for not listening to my body.

Well, my son just got over this same bug, and most of my escrima training buddies has been sick too lately. So It was only a matter of time before I got sick.

it's been busy, lots of onsite work (we've been hybrid since the pandemic), and outside-around-the-house stuff too.

i started a small outdoor herb garden about a week ago. that has been fun.

while I was typing this, this little fella came by to say 'hello', he must love the Spanish lavender.

To answer Josh Thompson's question from the shoutbox:

You can embed a video in the forum with the "Youtube" button next to the Quick Reply window, like I'll do here:

And as you probably can see, that will add (youtube) but in square brackets instead of round ones, and (/youtube) to end that again (also in square brackets). That should also work in comments below any uploaded song; haven't tried that in a while...

Hope that helps?

To Shamika: sorry if I hijacked your March forum for this, still a bit sleepy, I didn't think... back to bed wink

Back from my short one week holiday in Albania.

*as always, got some sort of cold/disease on holiday. It's a running joke in my workplace that I should not go on holidays because I always get sick.
*Albania is a beautiful country, very nice people! Enjoyed it a lot.
*Ate more sugary stuff in one week than I would in half a year, but I was on holiday so...I am curious to see what the scales will show in the Gym later grin
*Also smoked 3 or 4 cigarettes a day instead of the single one. Holiday rule wink
*Almost gut stuck driving on some side roads, decided next holiday I'll rent a 4 wheel drive car. It was...emotional at times grin
*spent yesterday working on the brushless DC motor conversion on my lathe. Seems to work ok smile

TeeGee is back after a much needed getaway - woohoo! but it's only Monday boohoo! Monday is usually quiet, it's a good listening catch up day.

I only have one amusing thing to add to the diary today.

* Because the weather is beautiful and Springlike I decided to go for a very long, slow walk. I reached a Zebra Road Crossing (black and white stripes). I prefer these to lights because traffic will always stop immediately to let pedestrians cross. Today I DIDN'T want to cross. However, as I got near, a car stopped and waited, even waved at me.

Conclusion, I felt so sorry that he'd stopped for nothing so what did I do? I crossed anyway grin As soon as he was out of sight..... I crossed back and continued my walk. Am I a very nice, kind person.... or just a stupid fool?

It's normal to get sick while on holiday. As far as I remember, when the stress caused by work starts to decrease, you will be sick. smile

I also smoked cigarettes myself. Now I haven't smoked at all for fifteen years. Well, on the other hand, tobacco is so expensive nowadays that I don't want to spend money on it. When I was young, it was almost free because I lived near the Russian border and people brought a lot of tobacco and alcohol from there.

And don't worry about sugar. It is good for the mind to eat unhealthily from time to time. Besides, you lift bigger weights at the gym if you get a slightly bigger belly. grin

My diary:
I'm still a bit sick, so I haven't been active in Wikiloops.

I played some bass today and tried to make song that Rootshell suggested. I managed to play for 15 minutes, but after that I was sweating like a pig. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. smilerocker

When I did the SHAMMY Awards thread it was really for new adds from the daily uploads but I think many artists missed out because they haven't remixed too much lately. So hopefully I can put that right in April.
I've had problems with my throat today so singing has been harder than usual, as a result I went through my BC for some more instrumental mixes and made a sampler, mainly Classical but some beats too.

Why is it so difficult to feel satisfied when you finish a meal..... you always want a little something extra until your stomach says "OK, that's enough" smile

Beautiful day! The sun is shining and the sky is blue. Spring is finally here!
The only thing missing from this day is that a beautiful woman would smile at me on the street. After that, it would be perfect smile

I'm not sick anymore either. It feels like I have a lot of extra energy in my body, luckily I can go to escrima training today.

I even tried to make my own song for Wikiloops because I found a great drum track. However, I don't think I dare to upload it to the site.

Have a very nice day everyone! smile

We talk a bit and play a bit she likes it verry much because she was a music teacher. love indian flute smiley and loves the sound of the Native American flute

Mother's Day (England), March 2025

Monday will be the last March Diary entry and probably the last thread I'll be starting. From now on I'll limit my chat to private messages and compliments, maybe the odd Shout..

I first came to the loops in 2014 it was quite new back then. When I returned years later, the site had grown considerably but to be honest it looked and sounded much the same. People say "If it ain't broke don't fix it". But I always thought WL had the potential to be more dynamic, more interactive and holistic with scope for stepping outside the jamming box. I was probably wrong.

If I'd had the technical skills required I would have organised face to face interviews with members, my one fumbled shot at interviewing the founder was as far as I could take it.
The forum seemed slow with not much much going on and I wondered why.. I always thought it was a shame that people would socialise in that tiny Shout Box when they had endless space in forum threads. The 'shouts' never seemed to go much further than the drinks trolley, the weather, or a place to push your latest upload.

Because I no longer have an instrument to join in jams, my only other creative outlet was the forum. Sometimes threads worked, sometimes they flopped.
Remember the *Wide Awake Club, *Make a Music pizza, *Music cocktails,*Masked musicians, *If Beethoven was a wikilooper, *The Zen Den, *Wind Down Week, *Musician's bucket lists and so on.
There obviously was a need for fun, chat, challenges and joint ventures but it was mostly the same names following my lead, great people, great supporters, great wikiloopers. Language was, and still is a barrier for public interaction. After a while I was sick of seeing my name at the top of each thread and I feel that more than ever today. That's why I don't want to be seen as sulky or blame anyone for my reluctance to carry on as Shamika The Forum Queen!

I don't have the will to keep poking a sleeping dog now so I'll let it lie in wikiloops slumber. Maybe someone else has aspirations to take over and try a few new ideas!
My best wishes to all wherever your happy place is on this site - So it really is farewell to the forum..... but hopefully not the loops. I still write lyrics and sing and I still give feedback to Loopers.
Cheers, Shamika.

Too bad the forum didn't survive. Now its death is certain because there will be no more new posts.
But at least you tried to make Wikiloops a better place, that's a lot. 🙂

Yesterday was a strange day on Wikiloops. I was sad that Shamika is no longer having fun, but otherwise I had one of the best days on Wikiloops. Yesterday 2 of my songs got a singer. It was a really great experience.
What made the experience even better was that one of the songs was made from my riffs. It was only the second time I uploaded a song to the site that was just me and a drum track. Luckily I dared to upload the song, even though I was nervous about the idea.

Finally getting around to checking out the 'loops again smile We just finished up a cool project/remodel, so work has been busting my behind lately. This weekend I did some yard work and put up my new outdoor security cameras as well. My garden is doing good too. My hands are still sore, so haven't played much guitar lately.

Looks like there was some forum fireworks smileshock

On the agenda for the week: some much needed rest. I was supposed to have Friday off but ended up working so will probably take a day off this coming week. It gives me a chance to get my oil changed on my truck. Oh, I finally did my taxes too! smile

Forum thoughts as seen through the eyes of an occasional reader and poster like myself.

Starting a new thread that's on it's fourth page of contributing posts is something to be proud of and not be unhappy about. It's so easy to react to the occasional post of criticism I know but surely we can't always be in agreement about everything we do in life. Positive posts about things you create should soften the harshness of any negative opinions and give us all a reason to not give up doing something we enjoy doing because someone else doesn't like it. To me it's not complicated, any forum activities are there to participate in for those who want to and to ignore if they don't. I always enjoy reading what's been happening in the backyard of my PC screen so please keep your posts coming.

Man, I know you got hurt by one or two different opinions on this or that thread, but you can't let that stop you. You will never manage to make everybody happy. I thought we had a lot of fun with your creative forum posts, I wish you would reconsider. Sulking is definitely less fun than being the forum queen.

Come on don't be that way, you know we love you love

But the fact that I want to step back from starting 'fun' threads is nothing to do with the 'spoilers' it's more about the low response and the fact that I'm sick of seeing the name Shamika plastered all over the Forum. I thought it might look like I'm sulking but actually I feel relieved to step down for a while.
