Everyone knows that I like a good cup of coffee. It's a subject worth talking about. Let's hear your coffee stories, coffee experiences, coffee songs. In the spirit of wikiloops I will even allow Decaff and hot beverages made of weird nuts and seeds. Cat poo coffee is cool, too ☕😂

Note: I always buy bean and try and grind the day of.

This is my favorite coffee, dark roast beans - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086164KA/

I found this coffee many years ago at a Grocery Outlet. I immediately fell in love with the taste. We've been drinking it for maybe over 10 years now. I prefer a drip coffee pot with a paper filter, setting set for "bold". We've tried other ways, those wire mesh filters don't do it any justice. I've used it for espresso and it's good as well, but making some espresso latte's is a lot of work.

That being said I try many different coffee's throughout the year, just to see if I run across anything I really like. I was making some Turkish coffee a few months back, had purchased Serj Tankian's autographed trio here - https://kavatcoffee.com/products/kavat-trio-and-tote-coffee-bag-set-signed-by-serj-tankian
as well as some via Amazon here - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BTIHBO
Both make a nice different style of coffee.

A week or two ago I was surprised at the no-nonsense just straight-forward taste of this local coffee - https://vylncoffee.com/products/vyln-blend
I was at a local baseball game and they had a booth so I'm always welcome to try something new. Like I said, it was just a nice cup of coffee. I do try and support local businesses, so I ended up grabbing 2 bags of beans.

I visited my mom maybe 2 years ago when she was in Arkansas, again, I always try and look for coffee wherever I go. Came across this roasting company and their Mexico Dark bean - https://www.arsagas.com/shop/p/guatemala-dark-y7kha
I grabbed some bags because it was another great tasting cup of Joe.

I've tried so many over the years, some because they were local or small companies, and some because I stumbled across a booth or a local shop.

Many years ago, I would go to this local coffee shop because I loved their latte's, they have since gone away, but I believe they would use both Stumptown - https://www.stumptowncoffee.com/collections/coffee and Intelligentsia - https://www.intelligentsia.com/collections/espresso for their espresso. I believe the the Intelligentsia was Black Cat.

The only sort of coffee story I have has to do with cigars. I don't really smoke cigars but I went into a cigar shop once and was looking for a cigar to smoke (we were going to be doing a boys night of whiskey, cigars, and poker). They guy who worked there asked me what I was looking for, I was honest and said I don't really know, I'm not a cigar smoker. He asked if I drank coffee. I answered most definitely yes. He asked how I liked my coffee and what kind of coffee style I drank. I told him dark roast but always with cream, usually a vanilla cream. Somewhat sweet but not overly sweet. He walked me into the humidor room and selected a cigar for me. I gotta say, it was a hell of a good smoke, semi-sweet, mild and not strong.

I'm not sure whether coffee is a more popular drink than tea here but it is the most popular beverage to write about .
Coffee = 472 Jamtracks
Tea = 175 Jamtracks

Here is the proof that roots loves coffee.

Good find Shamika. I do think more coffee than tea is drunk worldwide, but I will investigate that

I've been sticking to an organic whole bean super dark roast, a house brand of the superstore I go to locally ... I like it a lot, bitter but not sour, nice coffee flavor, always satisfies my coffee lust nicely. :D Some days I drip it, some days I percolate it ... two different flavors.

Every time I buy a light roast (I get tricked by the copy on the package), it's always sour, so I just get the dark now, mostly. Anyone else notice that sourness with light roasts? One day I'll find a light roast I like, they sure smell good. I've heard there's more caffeine in light roasts too.

A couple years ago the dark roast was 19 bux a kilo .. now it's 32 bux ... tariffs I'm hearing .. :@ Almost sadistic putting a tariff on the brew we need most.

I agree Ernie, price for coffee has gone up! :( I still drink it though, it's my morning fuel :)

On a side note amigo, you came to mind yesterday when I saw a guy wearing a black t-shirt with a bass headstock image on his shirt, much like your avatar :W

I've heard light roasts can be more acidic and have more caffeine? I haven't googled it, but who knows.

I am drinking hot chocolate today though, it's overcast with chances of showers today :)

Hi Nick, that guy with the bass shirt was obviously one of my many California fans haha .. (yeah right) :D

Well I guess I fell for the common misconception that light roasts have more caffeine, but it's sort of true I guess .. AI tells me this:

"The claim that light roast coffee has more caffeine than dark roast is a common misconception, but it holds some truth depending on how the coffee is measured. Caffeine is a stable compound during roasting, so per bean or per gram, the caffeine content is virtually identical between light and dark roasts.
However, light roast beans are denser and smaller because they lose less mass and expand less during roasting compared to dark roasts, which lose more water and puff up.
As a result, when measured by volume (e.g., a scoop), a light roast will contain more beans and thus slightly more caffeine than a dark roast.
Conversely, when measured by weight, the caffeine content is nearly the same.
Therefore, the perceived difference arises from measurement method, not inherent caffeine levels in the roasting process itself."

In regards to sourness this reddit post is kinda crazy, according to these writers, sour coffee has been trendy in San Francisco for years .. wth! I guess my palate hasn't "evolved" like some of those coffee aficionados claim. They call it acidity which to me is just levels of sour. LOL I think I had a light roast that I liked once .. but thinking back .. I might have dreamt that. :O

https://www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/comments/bpeqfb/help_me_understand_sour_light_roasts/?rdt=41551

I just realized what I'm forgetting about light roast VS dark roast .. a lot of people add cream and/or sugar instead of drinking it black, so it's going to be hard to judge sourness anyway I would think. :O

Hello, friends of the caféwikloops morning chat!

The first job I had after getting my driver's license in 1975, 1976 was a delivery driver! In a coffee roasting company called "Café Brésilia."
I was 18 years old, delivering roasted coffee to supermarket purchasing centers and stores in Eastern France by van.
Those years I played violin in my first prog rock band.
During coffee week, weekend concerts throughout my region.

When I wasn't making deliveries, I had to work in the roasting workshop in the den of the roasting oven! Helping to burn the green coffee, packing the small 250g packages into 5kg packaging (by hand), helping to repair the huge machines that made the packaging.
Unloading 400 bags of green coffee from the semi-trailer trucks that came from the islands! Bags on the shoulder! 50 or 60 kg! Walking from the truck to the storage area or with a hand truck and up stairs! :o

The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted through our nostrils all day long!
We often had to taste the new blends the boss had prepared to find new flavors! Sometimes we tasted five different new blends in 10 minutes... we were ready for the day!!!
Those years ago, I knew every possible blend to make good coffee... or at least good! I worked at that company for three years... good memories!
And the years have passed, and now if I drink two espressos, I get heart palpitations!
Yes, I had stents inserted twice in a row (to unclog the arteries in my heart) a few years ago.
And since then, my cardiologist told me... you can drink as much coffee as you want, JP, but DECAFFEINATED! ... without caffeine! (well, there's always a little in it.)

Since then I continue to drink "Brasilia" coffee but decaffeinated with water! and I use a Jura E8 machine... quite simply

There you go friends, that was my coffee moment. :D

Gogole trad ... souvenirs ;)

:O wow that sucks! if there was ever 10 commandments for coffee drinkers ... "Thou shalt not drink coffee from a vending machine or similar device" would be near the top of the list. Or something like that.

Tsis is the coffee neans that I drink at the moment. A monkey like me, I had to try it. It was actually recomended by a friend. Ground on my electric grinder, cooked on a simple stainless steel Moka pot, add a little milk foam, very naaaaaaaaice.

On January 26th, 1980, Frank Sinatra performed for an audience of 175,000 at the MaracanĂŁ Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, a concert that set a Guinness World Record for the largest paying audience for a single act at the time and was opened with "The Coffee Song" in a tribute to Brazil. :D
