mpointon It's never easy. If it's any help, when it comes to that sort of 'dragged' ghost note, I find playing traditional (jazz) grip gives me a lot more bounce response...
I nearly always use traditional grip when I play jazz or Sambas so I can get much better 'rolls' in one hand. I think it's the effect of the pivot being in your thumb.
The downside is I can't get the backbeat power and control as I'm not very well practised in it. So it's very much a trade-off for me. +1

rp3drums Man, I have tried traditional grip many times, in fact my old teacher would not allow any other style during lessons...but alas I never became comfortable in it. Luckily I usually play heavier stuff! :) +0
