Biography

I became fascinated with all things drums and percussion when I found my way into Turner's Music Store in Deland, FL back in 1977. Took lessons from Stetson University's Tim Tew for a couple of years starting as a 10 year old. He was a great instructor who emphasized the basics and provided a solid foundation. A Slingerland student snare was my first drum and was blessed with supportive parents who provided a Pearl 5 piece kit for Christmas the year I started lessons. I rarely get rid of gear and still have my original drums and use them on occasion.

In Jr High and High School I joined every school band available whether marching band, jazz band, pep band, orchestra, garage bands etc.
During college I played a little with Auburn University's Jazz band, and a few small gigs here and there with college friends.
After Auburn I moved to Atlanta and played weekly for 17 years in the praise and worship bands as well as orchestras, and big-bands for two North Atlanta "mega-churches". Great opportunity to learn some new styles and serve others which was awesome.

Now after a multi-year break I am getting back into regular practice and playing. Wikiloops and Drumeo are the two online tools I plan to use regularly to build my chops up. I am excited and thankful to have both of these tools.

- Ludwig 13" power piccolo snare, is my main snare drum
- mixture of Paiste, Sabian, and Zildjian cymbals.

- Roland SPD-8, percussion pad
