Hey Folks,
since the meet is getting closer we should slowly get started sorting some details -
I'll be actually on tour and doing a festival job in august, so please lets try to settle the biggies :)

There's four things to take care of:
a) Which musical equipment will be available, what can be brought by you guys?
I'll start by setting up a list what will be available and would appreciate if you could negotiate who will bring which kind of instrument/amp. Lets keep it simple, we dont want to blow out the windows or do a loudness competition... no need for three big marshall amps and four drumsets :)

b) We would like your feedback if there is interest to do some kind(s) of workshop(s) like the ones we did spontaneously last year.
Nilton offered to do one on "Transcription" which sounded interesting, and I could see Proffessor Oli filling the blackboard with clusters... please provide some feedback if there is interest, I'll surely offer the "traditional" nightly walks and a little field trip on Saturday ;)

c) I'd like to find out who would be able to bring camera equipment (HD camcorders, tripods, good USB cameras...) - should you have any of that and be willing to bring it along, please get in touch with me by PM. Can't promise there will be a web live stream this year, but who knows...I'm certainly offering to cut some video footage like the precious stuff from last year.

d) before I forget: Should anyone have some special diet needs, please get in touch with me, so we can make sure you won't starve at the meet!

Now, let me throw out the gear I will install...
we'll have a sufficient PA system to serve both musicians and audience,
a 24 channel digital console, feat. up to 20 mic ins,
8 channel DI box available to plug in keys & acoutic preamps etc
direct recording of up to 16 single tracks from console into laptop

Pearl session series Drumset, no reso heads on & in desperate need of some tuning (got to say it how it is) - no mistake to bring good sounding snares and expensive ride cymbals if you wish :)
Santander electric Bass
upright Bass
Yanagisawa Alto Sax

medium sized AER amp (bass / acoustics)

I'll bring some SM58s & SM57s to mic amps for recording and also provide a four-mic setup to record the drums, if you feel your instrument needs a mic and you happen to have one, bring it on :) We'll have some small condensers available for acoustic session recording as well... think that'll do.

Looking foreward sooo much :D

I'll be bringing a clonewheel (Nord C1) and perhaps a small Leslie if I can fit it into the car. Also happy to do a tutorial on the Hammond tonewheel organ.

Depending on who I am travelling with, I could possibly bring a stage piano, but I'd be happy if someone else did.

I got some ideas for tutorials I could provide depending on interest:
- specific areas of music theory
- introduction to the piano for non-pianists
- how to name a chord (for those who "play by ear" )
Just let me know if there is any interest.

I also would like to suggest to give the days some structure - maybe we can do jam blocks of a certain length (1hr-2hrs) with certain topics. Like having a block for replaying existing wikiloops jams, one for the funky stuff, one for jazz, and so on... What do you think? We shouldn't have the whole day structured, but I like the idea of honoring the different interests of the visitors that way...

Yes! Don't forget there may be some more vegetarians - like me B)

As I come by plane, I'll only bring 2 saxes and a clip-on mic for the sax, needing phantom power (OK?), hoping to have a nice little reverb plus delay from the PA.

Hurzel has good points, some structure would be nice. Not too much, but no lack of. Like the blocks he propooses.

@Lutz phantom power supply is no problem, same goes for reverb / delay / comp etcs, that's all on-board the digital mixer.

I also like the idea to set up some time windows for different kinds of jams - we could easily set up some blocks, let me do a genereal sketch up...

Friday
12:00 arrival & gear setup

15:00 "official opening", coffee (must, lol)

- quick rotation jam: lets outline a simple two-parts jam (8 bars verse / 4 bars chorus, chords on board) and try to keep that going while anyone present rotates to play one or two complete verses, while we keep the jam going (that will be crazy, i know, but good to get the group warmed up...)

17:00 split groups into amplified & acoustic section (depending on weather condition, some may want to sit in the yard or move to the second available room or the kitchen...)

19:00 Lets have some FOOOOOD

20:00 - 24:00 open jam

24:00 nightly walk for the brave

Saturday

8:00 - 10:00 reanimation, breakfast buffet, coffee flat, ideas & advice for earlybirds wishing to do some hiking/site-seeing are available...

10:00 - 12:00 space for workshops (why do I feel more people offer to hold than to attend those?)

12:30 Food again I'd say

14:00 BLOCK 1, possibly offering two "themes" in different rooms (mind, only one drumset available so far...), p.e. "Funk" in the amplified area (Room A), and "Jazz progression" in the acoustic (Room B), as an example

16:00 Coffe & a walk offered (if weather is appropriate)

17:30 BLOCK 2, p.e. "Rock & Blues" in room A & "evil cluster theory" in room B or something

19:00 Food again

20:30 feastly open jam, lets try to sort out how we can make sure tracks which have been "prepared" can be performed and make sure everyone gets to play (that was no issue at all last year, btw).
There may be some guests & pure listeners present on saturday evening, too, so maybe we can do some curve, starting with some tasty acoustic stuff, slowly raising the volume to some bootie swinging & foot tapping music as we go. Most importantly, let's have a blast.

0:00 or later - nightly walk for the notoriously brave

Sunday
I'd leave sunday morning open without programme - we should start packing up & loading gear around 12:00 o'clock and depart after some rounds of coffee at about 15:00 so I have a chance to return the place in shape come evening time :)

Mind - this is just a proposed draft which -except for the coffee- is open to changes :)
