My thoughts exactly...on here music is the language we all speak and humans are capable of harmony...musicians have a duty to the lead the way. Its more fulfilling to make music not war. On here it doesnt matter if you are christian muslim or athesist...we all worship rock!

Wikiloops is my musical support system, no one else supports me or appreciates my music like the loopers do. I like the fact that people worldwide can interact with each other, no one is ever offensive or rude - just full of support and everyone gets on really well. It's like one big happy family.

I have been reading this thread for a while and like Dick (and others) have been touched by the personal stories and how this site has given hope and meaning. I don't have much of a story to tell, so won't. As a scientist working in the physical world and a student of cultures and history I share Dick's point of view. Unfortunately Germany is the only nation that I know of that has not hidden its history, so has been able to rise above it and keep in check some of humanity's worst traits.
Music has always been able to transcend national boundaries and go beyond human nature's affinity for identifying and belong to groups (my family against the world, my sport team against yours, my country is first/best, etc.). I have to admit to thinking wikiloops(like the Olympics) shouldn't feature countries and just celebrate those universals as people come together. Unlike the Olympics we are not here to compete, so why should wikiloops note where people are from? Richard has got this right in that the vast majority of people identify with their "group" and need to be continually reminded that cooperation and working together does not have national boundaries. Seeing that you are making music with people who your government may say are your enemies, frees you from being locked into the politics of your location. How can the person I just made music with be my enemy? They are like me...they ARE me! That's powerful medicine. Some think that trade can keep nations from war...maybe. Well it's a type of communication, but based on commerce and always trying to get more, rather than mutual respect. The internet has the power to open lines of communication and mutual respect that allows truth (as well as BS) to circulate the globe. Richard has brought us together, recognizing our differences and nationalities, yet offering us the opportunity to communicate honestly and leave those differences behind.
I am very grateful to Richard for his vision.

Hey Loopers.... Again You are showing how wonderful people You are...
First of all - sorry for my english.
Music is near to me from begin of my life. Radio playing all day and night, and my mother singing... when other kids were asking me what we play? Football, doctor, store? I always wanted to play a concert... until now I don't know why my Parents didn't let me go to learn music... Maybe for money, maybe The were to much lost? I rally don't know...
During "highschool" I created with my friends hiphop group. I found some good people in our local cultural centre and we found place for practice. Also I found my first job there as "soundman". That was great for me because economical situation of my family was terrible, so I had to earn for myself. I rally loved this job. Unfortunatly I found also some wise guys... some sound "engineers" knew exactly that I'm rally loving this... so all job during the events was on my side, but they kept money. They made me fired from cultural centre. One day, during the show one friend - blues singer asked me: Don't you see what they doing? She was right, but I didn't seen that before... after couple day I decided to keep the rest of self respect and I showed middle finger to my engineers... I was 20 yo, without job, without money (it was terrible period in Poland - no job for young peple), without any little support from nobody... For a short time I was also smuggler of cigarettes to west europe... I was living from day to day.
That I found myself in Belgium... for two years I was illegal contruction worker and I hated that. I missed my homeland. In 2005 I camed back to start again from 0. This time I won! Last years I became good specialist in my field and now Im learnig how to be a good manager.
But all these times, behind of my head there was a music... constantly... I was alway fascinated with bass guitar. With the music I like to be little behind the main show... Even if people can't hear you directly, you know when they feel it... It's giving me real satisfaction... So my lovely Wife bought me firs bass as a gift. It was best gift in my whole life... I playd little bit with my friend.
After that i found WIKILOOPS on basoofka.net forum... I was rally enraptured, but withot possibility to record in the good quality... I was follow what is happening and finally couple weeks ago I decided to buy audio interface and try to record something. I was quite scary before my first upload. But You Guys gave my so much wind under my wings. I know mu skills, mistakes and whatever... But here i found many of hearts giving tomthe world best things...
You Guys are making my dreams come true!!! I know that one day, thanks to You I would be able to say:
I'M A MUSICIAN....
When I will say that, next thing will be:

Wikiloops is an amazing platform to experiment with the styles of music that I never have had the opportunity to vocalize with. Thanks to all the excellent musicians/producers, the sound quality of the tracks are spectacular.
