thx man... makin some progress here, had to take some backdoor paths to get the dynamic display working... some avatars are still missiing in the collection.
plese navigate beyond the ugly startpage and take a look at the jampage, profile and such.
Please keep in mind you'll have to log in again when visiting the mobile page (Key Icon)

jam page looks pretty good, got some ideas to round things up there...

hey there fellows...

I just understood once more why I dont wanna do too much graphic desing n this life...
its nice to discuss screen resolutions on smartphones... untill you notice, they might have quite different screen resolutions BUT the displays themselfs are pretty much the same sizes in reallity! So besides working on diffrent resolutions (wich look bigger and smaller on a PC screen) one needs to keep in mind that they are all stretched onto the same small display size (so in the end, theres no significant diffrence in the size of the buttons diplayed, no matter what resolution is used!). Kinda broke my head on this one last night, hoping my attempts are headin in the right direction.

Another issue seem to be the text sizes - for the reason stated above, I dont have much of a clue what text size to use - please have a look and let me know which texts are too little or too big to be read easily... screenshots would be appreciated very much.

I tried rearranging some links, so you wont hit three links at once when using a small touchscreen with big fingers, I need some feedback on that too please.
thank you guys!

for convenience, heres the link to the beta version again:

yep, smartphone displays have much better dot pitch (the distance between pixels on a display - also called pixel pitch or pixel density) than laptop or desktop displays. My laptop has a dot pitch of about 0.22mm but my phone is 0.1mm. The upshot of this is a 100x100 pixel image appears over 2x bigger on my laptop than on my phone.

The last few images I've posted I've scaled by 50% so they look more like how they appear in reality however they are much clearer and sharper on my phone than on my laptop....

yup thats exactly what I'm fighting with... I guess you might be able to read smaller print than me on netbook, just because you have more pixels per inch... but there doesnt seem to be a way to make my netbook pretend the resolution was higher... I have tried to experiment around, but no good results really

Looking good so far! The screen defaults to a perfect resolution now. Still messing around with it. I will keep you posted with any bugs.

Left some comments in the shout box. It works really good except for a few small bugs. I've been using it on my iPad and it's awesome. Bravo Dick.

hey dope,
thanks a lot for the checkout, glad to hear you were able to manage the navigation so far.
I am missing the online users myself, so I'll add them below the shoutbox I guess. Still thinking to maybe include the jump-to-jam function as well,

how about forum access??

To get some structure into the beta testing, please look at it again and tell me
1st: if there is any text you can hardly read (Ibelieve the copyright note shown on the footer or the track-titles shown in Searchengine might be too small - what do you say?)

2. are all buttons / links seperated well enuf so you can use a touchscreen with big fingers?

3rd please use the mobile version for a few days and let us know how it changes your feelin toward wikiloops... I have been experiencing it myself, to me, its really relaxing to look at the wide screen dislay right now after staring at the small framed version for days :)
The mobile startpage is missing the "click me" character of the normal startpages "recent tracks", so its a bit of a deadland in my perspective... gotta change that soon.
I need all the input you can give people, dont wanna launch the mobile version without proper rethinking of the features.
Think Im going to reorder the right side buttons by priority, suggstions are welcome!!

have a sunny friday,

dick

Well, I think the "more filters " button in the search engine could be removed and should either default to all filters or at least make the button easier to see.

I'll mess with it a lot more this weekend. We'll get it right. :) I do like it a lot though and am really exited that you took the time to create this.

Side note. Forum access would make it easier to provide feedback from mobile. Maybe a navigation button on the home screen?

spent the weekend doing tests with a borrowed samsung phone...
its for crying out loud, the display differences make coding on a PC almost impossible...
Hope the redesigned radio works for you now, I'd be happy to get some screenshots if anyone got the time. Its going to get difficult to have the player in a nice-size on all displays, I have realised that much.
Obviously, androids browser works quite diffrent from the firefox I'm used to, p.e. iframe handling is completely diffrent...

wouldn't have expected this to become such a pain in the butt, I really need to either give it up or make some progress, my timeline is getting completely ot of track with all the extra research necessary on the mobile development.

The browser is always going to be an issue with android. Most people I know don't use the standard browser and prefer Opera Mini or firefox - I normally use Dolphin...
