Hey,
Looks like you got me wrong about that last statement fanne, I do not have any bad feelings towards you at all, and I had no intention of telling you you were in any way unwelcome on wikiloops, sorry if that is how it read to you, it seriously has not been my intention.
What I tried to express in my last comment was my reluctance to believe it was possible to cater to the wide variety of people ranging from the semi-pros to the ones experimenting with fruity loops for the very first time.
Both kinds are generally welcome to me, but I won't attempt to turn wikiloops into a plattform that encourages uploading music that was produced using cheap android apps, neither do I want to turn wikiloops into something high-gloss that will turn away any bedroom guitarist. If I don't want to fool myself into thinking wikiloops was the one-size-fits-all solution, then I have to accept that -depending on their motives- some peope may want to use other platforms. What I was trying to say is that I do accept that, no offense intended.

I do agree on the things you said about motivation, too, and maybe we can correct the "objective" by including the question of "how could wikiloops capability to motivate people to make music (and improve while doing that) be made more obvious and experiencable to new members?"

We do observe some people who get stuck in the frustration / need-to-cheat / feel-overlooked situations you adress, and I do agree that can be annoying, and I admit to feel relived when I notice people give up posting finished songs or copy+paste works after a while, be it by better understanding or as a sign of "giving up".
Some of that may be due to them missing bits of information, but some is due to people lacking the competence to avoid frustration, or to foresee how certain social behaviour will affect their experience.
The later cannot really be cured from our end, it is sad when it happens, but I see little chance to avoid that.
"Learn and you'll have more fun", yes, I'd agree 100%.

Hey Dick

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but since it was me who brought up the procollabs site, and you said ” if anyone who feels overly attracted by the "pro" in procollabs.com, he/she should leave and find his luck there” it was obvious to me that I was spoken to.

I’m not intersected in joining procollabs at all, as a matter of fact there is little “pro”in procollabs (Alice made the jump from collabs to Wiki for some reason)

How shinny the site might be, Wiki is far better in the level of uploads and the interaction between their members, this even regularly turns out in friendship, and that’s very valuable thing these days.

The reason why I mentioned the site is only for how they deal with running the site financially, I know this is also a hot item here and there is no harm done in looking over the fence.
I don’t say they find the right solution for this issue, but maybe its worth to look into it.

It would be a pity to see Wiki disappear due to financial problems.
