wow, time is passing quick this month, guess its time I give some sign of being alive around here again :)
So whats hot?
the jam is on, and we could celebrate the 3000th track online about a week ago, 1435 members right this day.
I have been concerned with a new feature for wikiloops, called "wikiloops radio" at this stage of development. The idea is to offer a continous stream of wikiloops sessions, some auto-generated playlists based on user thumbs are already available, currently coding a bridge between playlist system and these radio-playlists, so people can add a public radio playlist by sharing a playlist... I think there will be categorys for "favorite jams playlists", "practise playlists" and maybe some more... sprent about 60hours on the code so far, looking good already. Started working on the playlist manager page yesterday, a page allowing you to copy tracks from one playlist to another, edit playlists and set them to public channel. The logic behind is quite complicated, for the playlists are seperate XML documents that need to be rewritten with any edit move, so I have been thinking hard to figure aout a user friendly way to navigate the functions. Quite happy with the result as for now, this is a really tuff project dealing with database changes and file rewrites at the same time.
I'm really becoming pro in some ways, promised myself I wont publish the feature before I did all the beta and relevant testing in due time. Of course I'm eager to release, but a half-working feature online is even more pressure, so I'll wait and work some more.
something else:
the concurence aint sleeping. I'm getting notions and quite evil offers, people start registerring wikiloops-domains with diffrent endings than .com theese days... I'm facing some fear of being bought out, just got too little funds to go ahead and reserve all possible domains. Makes me feel like my ahead room is growing a little smaller, but I knew I'd have to live with competitors having more capacities than me.
I just hope none of them can suck up my idea and steal the wiki spirit, but with the feedback I'm getting from you guys here, I feel a little confident wiki users are a nice bunch and like to stick to the real deal...
as you see, I'm busy as can be again, hoping I'll get a little break to record some myself after wikiradio is done... yeah, I'm still dreaming,
