The new developers blog layout
As you may have noticed, the wikiloops forum has undergone a small restructuring.
Besides wiping some rarely used boards, I have added a new section called "The Blogs" to feature those threads which are continious blogs rather than discussion threads.
I'm glad to be able to feature Rickplayers newly set up "In this day of music history..." posts this way as well - 365 posts for a year would have been hard to read in the forum structure :)
Those "bloglike" threads feature a comment section on each post instead of the usual option to reply to the thread, and there is a new set of "XY commented on your Blog" / "Y replyed to your comment on Blog XY" notices that will inform you about those comments via news feed in the future.
A small, but nice side effect is the fact that it is now possible to share singled out blog posts on the social web, which was not possible before.
While at it, I finally spotted the bug in the thread-notification system which prevented a correct display of "you are tracking this thread"-messages. This should be fixed, so if you feel like getting notices, feel free to stay up to date by clicking on "follow this blog" at the top right of this article.
In case someone feels like "yay, this is a cool thing to have, I'd like to start a Blog on something!", please get in touch with me, this can easily be set up from my end.
Still got some bugfixes on my to do list, as far as the major changes adressed in my previous posts are concerned, it looks like the new search results cache is working very smoothly and server response times show the overall load is a lot lower than before.
I will report some more details adressing this issue soon, stay tuned :)
