Don't know where I was rhythm-wise on this one, but had fun nevertheless. Join in...please! I need some covering up.

Smooth as silk. Wade was that some type of diminished run at the end of your first solo?
(45-47 seconds in) Very tasty! +1

Thanks Priscilla. Diminished run... Hmmm Got to admit I don't think in terms of structure ever when playing. Would have to go back copy what I'd done and analyze. Just play what's in my head without reference to theory. Sorry to be unhelpful. IMHO theory is the afterthought/analysis now preached for those who can't hear what they want to play. That probably sounds rude, but certainly appears to be the norm for teaching. Just hope students can get beyond that and play what's in their heads and heart.

Oh, I hear you Wade! No it doesn't sound rude.
A guitarist can play a pentatonic (box scale) in any key by sliding it anywhere on the fretboard. I always thought that horn players had a better grasp of the nuts and bolts of theory and harmony because they didn't have one scale/box shape that fits most everything. (That's not a put down to guitarists)
What did Miles Davis say...something about learning the music theory and then forgetting it. All good, you are helpful. +2

I think many of today's players do have a strong basis in theory. Unfortunately many just play rote technical variations without a sound or thought of their own...and there I go being rude again.

Mate, I'd love to but will need to wait at least another week or so. Had a little accident on the weekend with a power saw and flying wood which resulted in a badly bruised finger :(
