Mario this is very interesting, your funky playing has merged a late 80s manchester baggy band sound with something that reminds me of Level 42, which is very very cool indeed!! great my friend, when are you moving to mikes place?! ha ha. :)

Love it the Level 42 group and sound, I love the technical ability of Mark King that amazes me how he is able to sing in the lead vocals and make that vertiginous and precise slap in his songs, awesome bassist :)

Yeh they were great. I don't know how he does it really. I've been to the London Bass Show twice and he usually opens it, but sadly missed him. Most people say he is one of the best. I bet he is amazing to watch!

Thanks Groove! every now and then you have to do a bit of slap to not lose practice and touch, I think it is the bass technique that requires more training ;)

Yep - I'm still learning. Spent years playing only finger-style and am only now getting to the point I feel able to play slap in 'public' :)

a good compressor pedal is very important to level the volume of the slap, I am self-taught watching videos on YouTube and practicing, I also see essential to cover the strings non-percussion so they do not sound for sympathy or error in the slap stroke, it is not easy The technique, here little slap session in live with my nephew in the percussion of the cajon ...

Lol Mike. It probably sounds good to you now but you'd spit out your solo in 5 minutes then me and Glez would spend the rest of the night getting deep and dirty talking about palm-muting and fingering. :-P

Thanks eGiL :) I use the bass in passive mode with a bit of bass tone on the amplifier and some compressor on the analog pedal and on the digital track, gain adjusted on the digital signal so as not to saturate the slap beat. Good final sound ;)
