Once again I'm totally inhibited about posting my addition to this wonderful piece. Great mix and wonderful playing from all on this luscious piece. +1

Wade Already had my fun. Recorded it some weeks ago. Just may need to let it sit for a while so that when it appears it's not by "comparison". I'm pretty slow at posting stuff back. What's the hurry? The "fun" part is in the playing, which happens so quickly. The editing takes way too long and feels like work. I have around 20 tracks recorded and not yet edited. Can easily do up to 12 recordings in a day...but there's no point is there if they just pile up. I don't think there's anyone here who wants to listen to that much sax playing either. I really need to learn how to play bass or something else. +2

TeeGee
TeeGee LOl just don't take up electric guitar :D I stopped recording a lot of stuff, I just jam along. recording is also work, I need to set up a new file, rename it, check for BPM, and and and, volume and what not. I do one a week or less, but I do enjoy jamming to wikiloops a lot... +1

Wade
Wade I hear you TeeGee. Probably should just have fun with the jamming part and let it go. There's always the opportunity for "happy accidents" when playing or and inspired moment that I wish were recorded. As a result I record almost everything. I guess it's also like a game for me to see if I can "get it", in as few takes as possible. It's a measure of improvement. Currently I'm happy with about one out of five first takes. If I don't get it by the third take I go on to something else. Too much planning/overworking seems to take the freshness of interpretation out of the playing...better to leave for another day.

I guess all that adds up to being a bit OCD when it comes to my approach to jamming. There's also "old age" and a running a bet on which takes me down first: arthritis or Alzheimer's. As long as the music comes out OK and I'm enjoying doesn't matter... will do what I can for as long as I can.

TeeGee
TeeGee Lol the best stuff I ever played was when I was jamming along alone in my living room. the minute I turn on recording I start playing more cauciously - and when I play with other people it is even worse, I am terrified of playing bad that I do even worse :D . But, having said that, jamming along in my living room to myself, I do enjoy it and I keep saying that if I do so one day I will get better at it :) +2

Wade
Wade Most everybody has the same thoughts and reactions, well, I certainly do. The way to overcome this is to play in front of people or with others and record all the time until it's nothing special...just normal. Close your eyes if you don't need to look at your instrument. I have a bad habit of staring at the hands of either a keyboard player, guitarist or bass player. I can usually figure out what's happening that way, but forget to look elsewhere and just wind up staring the whole time. Not a good look, but I don't get "lost" as easily. I guess the point is that I'm not fixated on the recorder, people, or anything except the music and the instruments making the music. +2
